Life Vision, Campo Del Mar & Banana Coast Tours Announces Trujillo Artist’s Competition

Campo del Mar, Banana Coast Tours and Desarollos Vision de Vida are excited to announce the upcoming Artistic Botanical Competition!

Campo del Mar Nature Park has been designed to showcase the best of Honduras through Native Flora and Fauna.  Our Botanical Gardens are well under way and the flowers are growing like…um…weeds.

Inspired by the Natural Beauty and amazingly talented local Artisans we have come up with this Competition.

THE COMPETITION

Create a permanent outdoor artistic impression or expression of an element or elements of Trujillo or Honduras (historical, cultural, natural, or notable) using any medium (metal, wood, concrete, fiberglass, glass, ceramic, or other man made material) or combination of mediums, while incorporating flowers and plants of Honduras and other natural elements.

THE PLACE

Campo del Mar Park System will allocate an area of a minimum of 200 square meters within the Botanical Gardens to create the work and permanently display it with the artist or group name prominently displayed to the public.  The park is open from 8am to 4pm 7 days a week.

THE RULES

Applications must include:

• Artistic background and other qualifying information.
•  Theme or story of the display in 30 words or less.
• Draft depiction of the display.

Applications must be submitted by August 1st, 2013.

15 finalists will be chosen from all applicants on August 18th, 2013.

Finalists will have until October 13th to build and complete their display.

Each finalist will be provided a budget of L. 10,000 for purchase of materials not able to be sourced from natural materials or otherwise obtained.

Each display must include:

• A minimum of one sculpture or center piece.
• A minimum of 50% of the area must be natural plants or flowers.

Finalists will be responsible to maintain their display until judging on December 1st, 2013 to ensure its longevity and maturity.

There is no limit to assistance from others, tools that can be used, or who can apply.

THE JUDGES

May consist of representatives from the Municipalities of Santa Fe and Trujillo, Department of Anthropology, College of Architects, Campo del Mar, College of Fine Arts, the Chamber of Commerce, the College of Engineering, and independent Honduran artists.

 

This is no small event, the prizes are HUGE!!!

First Prize – L. 100,000

Second Prize – L. 50,000

13 Finalists – L. 10,000 per finalist
